Topic 1

A macro environment states the environment that has its presence in the economy or on a nation and not just on one industry or region. PESTLE analysis is a framework that is a great tool to assess the macro factors impacting the working of Apple as an organisation. It stands for political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental factors.

Political factors included the laws and regulations in the country along with the political changes of the different nations from where it imports the parts or manufacturers its products such as China. The stable political environment of the USA offers great opportunities to the organisation (Shtal et al., 2018).

The increase in the growth in the developing nations along with the disposable income among people offers an opportunity to expand and grow the business of Apple. The purchasing power of people is expected to increase which is expected to be beneficial for the company. The rising demand and trend among people to use the latest and trendy mobile phones and the features offered by Apple make it quite attractive in the eyes of the customers.

The constant advancement in the technological world is a boon for the company but the increase in cyber threats can be a cause of concern for the business environment of Apple. The increase in the legal and privacy regulations and the challenges against the policies and practices of the company can become a cause of concern for Apple (Khan et al., 2015). In regards to the environmental factors, adoption of sustainable business practices by the organisation and implementing practices that are good for the environment is stated to have a positive impact on the organisation.

One can keep an eye on the changing political and economic environment along with the changing taste and preferences of the customers. One should also assess the sales and revenue of the business on a constant basis to be well aware of the changes that take place in the macro-environment.

Topic 2

There are a lot of emergent skills that are needed for making an efficient and effective leader. It includes technical skills to understand the changing technological environment, interpersonal and communication skills to form better networks and bonds with employees and people and understand their needs and demands in a better way (Jan DeBell, 2019).

The management or leadership style that seems good enough to adopt is the democratic style of management. It is because it offers better communication and understanding between the employees and the leaders. Along with that, it helps in gathering the key information that the lower or middle-level employees might hold. This allows everyone to share their thinking and ideas which is effective for the overall development of the organisation (Liggett, 2020).

One should take the respective training and knowledge session of the skills and management style that one needs. One can ask their mentor or a senior for the same to get a better and true understanding of the democratic style. It would help in gaining true and real experience on the way to display and handle any situation in relation to it.

Topic 3

A suitable self-assessment tool that can be used for continuous development is the SWOT tool. It can be used by an individual to identify their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (Herman, 2017). This tool is selected as this can help in dividing the different abilities or lack of abilities that one holds under different heads. It can allow one to assess their true standing in regard to the areas that hold their strengths and the sections that one is not so well and require to improve. The opportunities would offer an understanding of the areas of growth and expand while the threats would help in assessing the sections that one needs to pay attention to. One can make an overall assessment of oneself with the help of this tool making it easier to identify the true areas of learning and development for an individual which is what self-assessment is all about.

One should take actions such as start small with regard to the area of continuous learning with respect to self-assessment (Chlebikova et al., 2015). A thorough understanding of the area or point should be done and one should evaluate it overtime to ensure that it is thought upon view and not just based on one or two incidents. One should keep a note of important questions and ensure that the self-assessment helps in answering them for better learning and evaluation of oneself.

Topic 4

A suitable creative problem-solving approach that can be implemented by an individual for professional development is the one developed by Alex Osborn (Michaelides, 2016). It is a six-step process that states –

  • Identifying the problem
  • Preparation in terms of gathering and analysing the data
  • Finding the different possible ideas for the problem
  • Generating of the ideas based on the problem
  • Evaluating the ideas
  • Adopting the best idea and drawing an action plan based on it.

The reason for the selection of this approach is because one needs to have deep thinking skills for solving a problem in a creative way and this approach offers that to an individual. It helps in catering to the main issues and generating solution around it for the best outcome (Bessant & Goller, 2017). The actions that one need to take to make the most for the selected creative problem-solving approach is to ensure that the right problem is identified. It is the base for the entire approach and hence it should be right. Along with that, one should ensure that the problem is broken down in the right way to generate the best result of the approach.

Topic 5

One of the suitable thinking approaches for the professional development of an individual is the design thinking approach. It is an approach that states a solution for the issue or problem that might be undergoing (Chorley et al., 2020). It takes into consideration of the human element and the use of creating many ideas in a brainstorming process. It is one of the prime reasons for selecting this approach as this is based on one’s own understanding leading to solving complex processes which otherwise might make an individual stuck at one point. The different steps involved in the design thinking process makes one think of the problem from a different angle. Empathise states looking at the problem and gaining more information and perspective for the same. Defining the problem, ideating based on the respective problem, prototyping based on the problem and testing the different possible solutions can be effective for me to think through the entire process and derive up a solution based on that. One need to broaden their horizon and view a situation or a problem from different angles (Henriksen et al., 2017). One should take each problem as a different problem and the process should start from the beginning for each to ensure that the best ideas and results are thought upon through the use of the approach.

Topic 6

A suitable self-empowerment approach that can be adopted as a part of personal development is Geller four C’s. It involves competence, consequences, choice, and community. The reason for selecting this approach was because it presents the process through which one can feel empowered and inspire themselves (TedxTalks. 2013). This approach states answering certain questions and if the answer to all of them states to be a yes then one is competent. The questions are further asked by more questions for each of the C-word. The use of this approach allows one to look deeper into the ways where one stand so that one can become success-seekers and not failure-avoiders. The actions that need to be taken in order to utilise the self-empowerment approach by Geller is to ensure that one lands on the right questions and that proper assessment is done with respect to the responses and situation. The actions should focus on things that lead to motivation. One should focus on the different ways they can become self-empowered and one should ensure that they are doing every action for themselves (Marapas, 2014). It includes keeping a check on oneself and get things done in less time with fewer resources. Also, establish goals for oneself that one actually wants to achieve and are realistic to keep oneself motivated.

Topic 7

The knowledge management approach that seems suitable for personal development is the practice approach. The reason for selecting this approach is because it is more suitable for a personal and their overall development. It is a non-formal way of managing knowledge allowing one to have a better understanding of things in a social environment (Barão et al., 2017). One can make use of this approach with a group of people who shares the same interest. This approach would help one to interact and understand the people who work in the same professional environment leading to a better understanding of the scenario and circumstances. It would be effective as the knowledge can be endless and one need people who are ready to share and interact in the right way and the practice approach offers that understanding. The actions that should be taken in relation to utilising this approach to the best ability is to understand that there are cordial relationships between people and that there is a sense of competition among each other in this regard. People sharing knowledge should be appreciated and encouraged for the overall personal and professional development of an individual (Raudeliūnienė et al., 2018).

Topic 8

The approach that can be used to build relationships, networking and engaging in mentorship is through the use of effective communication and respect for each other (Horoszowski, 2021). One needs to have the best interest of the other person in mind and offer them the right help and understanding in all regards to help them progress in their line of work. One approach that can be effective in professional development is trust. It is one of the most vital elements as without it people would not be comfortable sharing knowledge and discussing things with each other. The actions that one should conduct for utilising this approach to the best of regard is to offering a proper flow of communication and maintain effective understanding between each other (Montgomery, 2017). Efforts should be made to understand the situation and respect the person to form the right balance of networking and relationship.

Topic 9

One of the key approaches for goal setting that can be effective for professional development is the leadership approach. Based on this approach, goal setting states the direction that one should focus on (Latham & Locke, 2006). This can be done with the help of the right leadership. One can have a better understanding, especially if the goal is really difficult and would need more intense efforts in order to achieve it. One can get insights based on the goals and its achievement it can be helpful as this would allow an individual to think in the right direction helping in their professional development. One need to interact with seniors and other people who know oneself as the action for incorporating this approach in the professional development plan of a person. It would help in better identification of the types of goals that can lead to the professional development of an individual and the type of goals that should be established based on them (De Janasz et al., 2014). One should also discuss the right path to achieve the goals as the leaders are people with adequate knowledge and experience making it quite effective in terms of achievement of the set objectives.

Topic 10

There are many theories related to professional adaptability. They relate to planful attitudes and adaptive decisions based on the need (Reeves & Deimler, 2011). These are theories related to being culturally aware along with maintaining proper interaction between personal and the work environment to understand the need of the situation and make suitable changes or adaptations based on that. The other theories include aspects related to job satisfaction and work engagement. These can be implemented for improving the professional development of an individual. It is because one would be better aware of the element that can help them adapt to the situation in a better way. Thus, efforts can be put in the right direction leading to a better outcome for the person. One can incorporate the adaptability development strategy by coordinating with others and learning from others (Parsons & Vaughn, 2016). The action required in this aspect is maintaining a proper flow of communication and being ready to make mistakes and ask relevant and important questions at the right places. All this would lead to constant learning for a person which is an important base for implementing the strategy and improving for professional development.

Topic 11

There are many different approaches that can be incorporated in relation to improving professional judgement and decision-making. It includes rational decision making that consists of six steps or the 10 steps decision making by Fitzgerald (Fitzgerald, 2002). These approaches can be implemented in professional development as it would allow the individual to identify the problems that might act as the barrier or hindrance to the growth of the person in a professional environment. One can incorporate it by having a better understanding of the environment and the way different elements can have an influence on things and decisions. There are many actions that one need to take in order to incorporate the adaptability development strategy for professional development. It includes being aware of the problems and assessing the different solutions based on the same. One should research and assess the options and the decision and evaluate the impact it might hold on the professional development of the person (Aylward, 2020). One should think before taking any action and identify the implication of the same in all possible directions. The decision should be based on the problem or the area that one wants to concentrate on and one should not get diverted by other elements that come in between.

Topic 12

There are many different strategies that are available in regard to overcoming procrastination. It includes doing all at once, solving problems when they are small, reducing interruptions, stop worrying about things, being decisive in decision-making and putting those decisions into motion (Urban, 2016). These strategies can be put into action for professional development by making plans and sticking to them. One can make a list of things and allot suitable time to them. One then should try and stick to the plan and get the maximum possible work done in the stated time. These strategies would help an individual to have clarity and think about the objectives or the professional goals that they would like to achieve. The actions that should be put into motion for overcoming procrastination for professional development include keeping a goal in mind and being focused on it. One should think of the work and the best and fastest way of getting it done. One should stop blaming others and ensure that proper planning is done in regard to the work to get the best results (Gleeson, 2008). Also, one should note the progress done by them and should not feel demotivated in case things does not go as per plan.
